Sungyeon Kim is a performance artist and sculptor exploring the intersection of body, materiality, and migration. Originally from Seoul, currently based in London. Sungyeon holds a Master’s degree in Performance Design and Practice from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, and earned her BA in Fine Art from Korea National University of the Arts. Her academic and artistic background informs a research-driven practice that merges cellular thinking with embodied methodologies, imagining intimacy and belonging not as static concepts, but as processes of entanglement, transformation, and mutual becoming.

With a background in Fine Art from Korea National University of Arts, Sungyeon’s artistic practice is deeply informed by her third-culture identity, having lived in Korea, the Czech Republic, the UK, and now considering Denmark for further research. Her projects often focus on diaspora, memory, and adaptation, drawing parallels between plant growth and human migration.

Sungyeon’s research extends beyond traditional performance art, incorporating biological adaptation, ecological sustainability, and socially engaged practices. Through workshops and installations, she collaborates with immigrant and refugee communities, using art as a bridge for cultural dialogue and collective storytelling.

Her influences range from phenomenology and somatic methodologies to bio-integrated art, and she continuously challenges the boundaries of performance by engaging audiences in site-specific, interactive experiences. Whether through sculptural installations, live performances, or research-driven workshops, Sungyeon’s work redefines performance as a living, evolving entity that connects people, place, and memory.
